Songdo International Business District (IBD) officially opened on August
7, 2009 as designated Free Economic Zone and the first new
sustainable city in the world designed to be an international business
district. With its strategic location just 15 minutes driving time from
Incheon International Airport and 3 ½ hours flying time to 1/3 of the
world's population and regional markets such as China, Russia and Japan,
Songdo IBD will position South Korea as the commercial epicenter of
Northeast Asia.

The HafenCity University Hamburg, the University Of The Built Environment and Metropolitan Development (HCU), is the only university of its kind in Europe. The education and research at the HCU
Hamburg are aimed are contemplating and concretising what the future of
metropolitan areas should look like.

HafenCity covers an area of 157 hectares, making it one of the most
prominent inner-city waterfront development projects in the world. Based
on new concept for urban living, it will increase the size of Hamburg
City by 40 percent. Between the historic Speicherstadt
warehouse district and the River Elbe, new city with cosmopolitan
mix of homes, service businesses, culture, leisure, tourism and commerce
is emerging. The
development (to circa 2025) is being managed by HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, 100-percent subsidiary of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. HafenCity is already rated as the model project for international waterfront
development.
