cooperation with Khalifa Fund has initiated the Innovation
Series: series of conferences, case studies, panel discussions,
workshops,
exhibitions and awarding ceremonies since January 2010.
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al
Nahyan, Abu Dhabi University is
proud to inform about the
Second Innovation Week, which
will be happening on January 24-25,
2011 at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel,

Ministers
of higher education, science and technology from member countries
of
Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has announced that they
will set
up the InterIslamic Network of Virtual Universities, based in
Iran and
financially supported by the Islamabad based OIC and the
Islamic Development
Bank in Jeddah. The InterIslamic Network of Virtual
Universities will be
established to strengthen and improve scientific,
instructional, research and
technological collaboration among the Islamic countries.

Standing Committee on Scientific
and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH)
General Assembly has concluded
its 14th Session in Islamabad on 13 January 2011. The COMSTECH
General
Assembly has adopted far reaching recommendations for the promotion
of Science and Technology in the Muslim World underscored in this regard the
need to mobilize necessary political will, allocation of financial and other resources.

The world leaders, meeting at the United Nations in 2000, have set
eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
that aim to
transform the condition of humankind in the 21st century.
These Goals
now guide the policies of Governments and the priorities of
development agencies.
Achieving the MDGs is requiring the massive expansion of
human
learning. In this context, the Commonwealth of Learning (COL)
is the only international
intergovernmental agency that focuses
exclusively on using technologies to expand
the scope and scale of human learning.
